The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) is the operational arm of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism. It is hosted and managed by UNEP in collaboration with UNIDO and with the support of 11 Centres of Excellence located both in developing and developed countries.

April 2013- A regional workshop on promoting international collaboration to facilitate preparation, submission and implementation of NAMAs will be held from 16th to 19th April in Maseru, Lesotho.

March 2013 – An international course on clean energy access, environment and climate change projects for the public and private sectors is being conducted from 18 March to 19 April 2013 at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.

A UN side-event entitled “Building Capacity for Effective National Planning and the Deployment of Clean Technologies” highlighted that capacity building is needed to enable developing countries to use clean technologies, and to assess technology needs and support low emission development planning.
Joining Efforts to support preparation and implementation of NAMAs, a session on Wednesday at the Climate Change Conference 18 in Doha discussed Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs), and launched the NAMA Partnership.
The NAMAcademy provides a fundamental understanding of the concept of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions and offers courses and coaching for public sector officials who need to formulate national or local policy initiatives that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
21 November 2012 - The Emissions Gap Report, coordinated by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the European Climate Foundation, shows that greenhouse gas emissions levels are now around 14 per cent above where they need to be in 2020.

Bonn, 12 September 2012 – A newly launched loan scheme aimed at increasing the number of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in developing countries has authorized the funding of more than USD $3 million towards 23 CDM projects.

July 2012 - The Government of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe officially created the Designated National Authority (DNA) for the Clean Development Mechanism.
May 2012 - A newly launched loan scheme aimed at helping spur Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in developing countries closed its first round of applications with a strong show of interest from countries across the world.
UNEP Risø Centre was for the 4th time part of the organizers of the African Carbon Forum bringing carbon market activities from African countries together with international investors and credit buyers. This year's Forum, held in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, saw more than 1000 participants from around the world. The Event was also the platform for the launch of a new loan scheme for CDM project developers implemented by URC in collaboration with UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services).
The long-awaited UNFCCC Loan Scheme for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) was launched during the African Carbon Forum in Addis Ababa, 18 -20 April 2012.
